⏳ S-Corporations & Partnerships – Extensions
For most clients, we file an extension for your S-Corporation or Partnership, which makes your new filing deadline September 15, 2026.
Extensions avoid late filing penalties which are calculated per shareholder, per month.
🏢 New Business or Entity Changes?
Please notify us immediately if:
- You opened a new business in 2025
- You are considering becoming an S-Corporation
- You are changing entity classification to/from C-Corp or Partnership
- Ownership percentages changed, a partner or shareholder was added or removed
These items may require additional steps or a more timely filing.
🗂️ Individual Returns – April 1 Document Deadline
To ensure timely processing of your individual return, please submit all required tax documents by April 1.
If we do not receive your documents and have not heard from you by April 1, we will automatically file an extension on your behalf.
Extensions move your filing deadline to October 15.
However, any taxes owed are still due by April 15 to avoid penalties and interest.
💼 Retirement Contribution Review
March and April are also when we finalize:
- Employer retirement contributions (401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit plans)
- Contribution calculations tied to finalized business income
If you are considering maximizing retirement contributions for 2025, now is the appropriate time to review.
📅 April 1 – Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
If you turned 73 in 2025, your first Required Minimum Distribution must be taken by April 1, 2026.
Delaying the first RMD into April may increase taxable income within the same calendar year.
If you are unsure whether this applies to you, please contact our office.
