Proactive Tax Planning

for Business Owners, High-Earning Individuals, and Growing Families

Tax planning should not happen only once a year when your tax return is being prepared. By the time your return is filed, many of the best opportunities to reduce your tax liability may have already passed.

At Accountable Financial Services Group, we help clients look ahead, understand their tax position, and make informed financial decisions throughout the year. Our tax planning and advisory services are designed to help you stay compliant, make appropriate estimated tax payments, identify tax-saving opportunities, and avoid unnecessary surprises at filing time.

Whether you are a business owner, real estate investor, retiree, high-earning taxpayer, or individual with changing income, proactive planning can help you make better decisions before year-end.

Tax Preparation Looks Back. Tax Planning Looks Forward.

Tax preparation reports what already happened.

Tax planning helps you prepare for what is happening now — and what may happen next.

Our tax planning process may include a review of your current income, withholding, estimated payments, business activity, retirement contributions, deductions, credits, investments, rental activity, payroll, and other financial changes that could affect your tax situation.

We use the information you provide to prepare tax forecasts, estimate your potential tax liability, and discuss strategies that may help reduce your overall tax burden or improve your cash flow.

Who Benefits From Tax Planning?

Tax planning is especially helpful for clients who:

  • Own a business, S-Corporation, partnership, or rental property
  • Receive income that is not fully covered by withholding
  • Make quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Have significant investment income, capital gains, or retirement income
  • Are considering retirement contributions, Roth conversions, or business purchases
  • Have major life changes such as marriage, divorce, a new child, home purchase, sale of property, or retirement
  • Want to avoid unexpected balances due when filing their return
  • Want a clearer financial picture before year-end

Tax planning is not only about reducing taxes. It is also about understanding your numbers, avoiding penalties when possible, planning for cash flow, and making decisions with better information.

Our Tax Planning Services

We offer three levels of tax planning support. A combination of services may be recommended depending on your income, business structure, and planning needs. You can calculate an estimated cost of the services here: Tax Planning Service Calculator

Annual Comprehensive Strategy Meeting — $500

A dedicated annual meeting to review your financial picture, identify tax-saving opportunities, and build a proactive strategy for the year ahead.

Your strategy meeting is typically scheduled in the second half of the year. This timing gives us a clearer view of your income and allows maximum time to implement tax-saving strategies before year-end — or to discuss strategic financial planning for the year ahead.

This meeting is ideal for clients who want a deeper review of their overall tax situation, including business income, retirement planning, estimated taxes, deductions, credits, rental activity, investment income, payroll, or other major financial considerations.

Quarterly Payment Update Meetings — $275

Short check-ins each quarter to review your income, adjust estimated payments, and keep you on track throughout the year.

These meetings are designed for clients whose income changes during the year or who want regular guidance on whether their estimated payments are still appropriate.

Quarterly payment update meetings can help reduce surprises at filing time by allowing us to monitor your income, withholding, tax payments, and projected balance due before the year is over.

Quarterly Tax Forecasts — Email Only — $175

Quarterly estimated tax calculations delivered by email. No meeting is required.

We run your numbers and send you exactly what to pay and when. This option is best for clients who need updated estimated tax payment calculations but do not need a live meeting each quarter.

State Tax Forecasts

State tax forecasts may be added for $50 per state per plan.

Estimated Tax Payment Vouchers

Estimated tax payment vouchers are prepared and provided at no additional charge as part of your annual tax return preparation.

The tax planning services listed above are for additional forecasting, advisory review, payment updates, and proactive planning during the year.

Engagement Client Discount

Clients on an active engagement agreement receive a 10% discount from the prices listed above.

Engagement clients may also receive preferred appointment scheduling and coordinated support across tax, accounting, payroll, consulting, and state and local tax needs, depending on the services included in their engagement.

What We May Review During Tax Planning

Depending on your situation, tax planning may include a review of:

  • Current-year income and expected year-end income
  • Federal and state estimated tax payments
  • Wages, withholding, and payroll
  • Business profit or loss
  • S-Corporation reasonable compensation
  • Retirement plan contributions
  • Rental income and expenses
  • Depreciation, Section 179, and asset purchases
  • Capital gains and investment income
  • Tax credits and deductions
  • Charitable giving
  • Roth conversions or retirement distributions
  • Required Minimum Distributions
  • Cash flow needs and upcoming tax deadlines
  • Changes in tax law that may affect your return

Each client’s tax situation is different. Our goal is to help you understand which planning opportunities may apply to you and what action may be needed before important deadlines.

Client Portal and Secure Document Exchange

Clients may safely upload documents, access tax planning results, review prior tax documents, communicate with our team, view invoices, and manage individual and business profiles through our secure client portal.

Accurate and current information is essential to effective tax planning. We may request updated income information, payroll reports, accounting records, investment statements, retirement contribution details, or other documents before preparing your forecast or strategy meeting.

Important Client Responsibilities

Tax planning is most effective when we work together throughout the year.

Clients are responsible for providing accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. Please notify us of significant financial changes, life events, business changes, investment activity, new income sources, or other items that may affect your tax situation.

Tax laws are subject to change, and future legislative updates may affect your final tax return. We monitor relevant changes and communicate material updates when needed.

Ready to Plan Ahead?

If you are tired of being surprised at tax time, proactive tax planning may be the right next step.

Select the level of support that best fits your needs, or contact our office so we can help determine whether an annual strategy meeting, quarterly payment meetings, email-only forecasts, or a combination of services would be most appropriate for your situation.

Tax planning gives you the opportunity to make informed decisions before the year is over — when there is still time to act.
